The October issue of Aircraft Cabin Management is now online

From sleeping to reading or watching preloaded content on a personal electronic device, passengers choose various pastimes during their flights; and that is why personalised usage of light has never been more important. LED lighting solutions installed in the cabins of commercial airlines are increasingly enabling a use of light on board that is customised to one's individual needs and preferences.

Despite the pervasion of innovative technology throughout the cabin, such as inflight entertainment systems, LED lighting and seatback screens, the galley remaining the biggest drain of electrical power. We speak to Embraer about the electrics of their cabins – including their new-generation E2, which is highly fuel efficient.

We explore the increasing usage of composite materials within the cabin, with the parts not only offering cost and weight savings, but also creating new opportunties for branding and differing aesthetic appeal. This issue also features a focus on thermoplastics manufacturers SEKISUI SPI, Boltaron Inc and SABIC.

Other articles in the October issue include:

Reality check
We take a look at Airbus' Airspace and Bombardier's ATMOSPHÈRE cabins at their debut at Farnborough International Airshow, and see how they compare to the original concepts.

Family management
Airbus has implemented a common cabin management system for the majority of its aircraft, from the A320 Family up to the A380, allowing for a consistent passenger experience.

Go with the flow
A crucial part of any cabin, we talk to Diehl Aviation, Lufthansa Technik and AFI KLM E&M about developments in waste/water system technology.

First from Oman
We examine Oman Air's recently launched three-class Boeing 787-9, with a cutting-edge fully enclosed First Class suite and an exclusive new Thales Intergrated In-Flight Entertainment System.
