Low Cost & Regional Airline Business is now online

This issue, Embraer allows us a peak behind the curtain at its E-Jets E2 programme, as demand threatens to overwhelm the Brazilian OEM. With its lower fuel costs and seat maintenance, it is easy to see why LCCs are clamouring to get their hands on the E2 family. Fortunately they won’t have to wait much longer, with the E190-E2 expected to enter service in the first half of 2018.


But will there be enough personnel to fly them? As the global pilot shortage takes hold, Boeing predicts that more than 600,000 positions will need to be filled over the next two decades. We explore whether current training programmes are up to the task.


Turning to more technical matters, Pratt & Whitney has ironed out the kinks in it's ultra-efficient, Geared Turbofan engine, and it is now in service on more than 60 aircraft.
